The IMI is pleased to confirm that the new motor vehicle vocational training programme aimed at 14-16 year olds will be piloted from September 2012 for a period of two years.
The IMI would like to announce the introduction of a new qualification to the AutoStart Programme:

However in order to fit in with the AutoStart programme the 3 optional units have been prescribed below as they must be focused on motor vehicle maintenance and repair:
Motor vehicle maintenance safety practices
Motor vehicle maintenance techniques
Motor vehicle maintenance planning

AutoStart will launch with the first cohort of learners in September 2012. So for all those who wish to get involved please register your interest ahead of September 2012 by completing the expression of interest from, which can be downloaded below, and return it to email@example.com.
*Please note that the expression of interest form is intended to assist the IMI in outlining the number of learners anticipated to start on programme to help with forward planning.
Work Experience Tool Kit
As part of the AutoStart Programme the IMI will provide resources to assist with work experience. We are re-developing our current work experience resources to provide work experience organisers, employers and students with relevant and up-to-date guidance to support the work experience process. We are bringing together best practice from previous automotive work experience guides to produce 3 short easy to use guides, one for organisers, one for employers and one for students. These new resources will cover the whole of the UK and can be used for work experience students on any programme of any age at any level.
To make sure that the resources are as beneficial as possible the IMI is asking for feedback on the first drafts, which can be downloaded below:
*Please note that the documents above are in draft format at present and once finalised will be branded and put into a new template with graphics to enhance the look of the resources.
If you would like to feedback on the resources then please send your comments to firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of July 2012.
