National Apprenticeship Week 2012, takes place from 6th to 10th February 2012.

Preparations are well underway for National Apprenticeship Week 2012, taking place from 6 to 10 February 2012. The Week has been a tremendous success over the last four years and 2012 will be even bigger.

There are a number of events taking place across the country to highlight the talents and skills of automotive apprentices and celebrate their value to businesses.

Babcock
We are holding it at our Ruddington Academy on 7th February (pm) and 8th February (am) where we will be holding an 'Automotive Olympics' for would be apprentices to interactively compete in automotive based tasks and games where their success will be rewarded!

Remit
Remit are the largest single provider of Motor Vehicle apprenticeships in the UK. Around 50 of our 154 staff were once apprentices including our Chief Operating Officer and our Group Services and Quality Director.

During the week all those members of staff and a number of other staff will be spending a day on the shop floor working with an apprentice for the day. These activities will be happening at locations over the country and will mainly but not exclusively be in the retail motor industry.  The COO and Group Services Director were apprentices in the East Midlands and will be carrying out their back to the shop floor day in the Nottingham area. The COO did his apprenticeship in the 1980's and the Group Services Director who is still only 29 did his apprenticeship in Nottingham commencing as recently as 1998.

On Friday 10th February a group of our staff, apprentices and hopefully a group of school pupils will be assembling in front of the Nottingham City Council building on Market Square in Nottingham to mark the start of an 84 mile cycle ride which will be undertaken by our Chief Exec and National Sales Director to raise publicity for National Apprenticeship week. They will be riding from the Council House in Nottingham to our training centre at Rearsby, Leicestershire, to our Mansfield Office and then to our Head Office back in Nottingham.

North Warwickshire & Hinckley College
We are hosting an event at our Bermuda Park Innovation Centre, Nuneaton to showcase the Apprenticeship, Pre-Appenticeship and Courses we offer in Forklift Truck, Transport, Warehouse & Logistics.

The purpose of the event is to give employers and company representatives from within these sectors an insight into running Apprenticeship schemes, how we can offer support in all the processes of the programme, including recruitment,  and also the opportunity to find out more about the variety of full and part time courses we also offer.

You will also have the opportunity to look around our purpose-built facilities used for our Forklift Apprenticeship programme.  North Warwickshire & Hinckley College are one of only two colleges in the country to offer a unique apprenticeship solely dedicated to forklift truck maintenance.  We will also explain the different programme routes and the types of delivery we offer for all our Apprenticeships and courses from within the sector.
