Apprenticeship Certification - England

New Apprenticeship Certification Claiming Process - ACE Online - (Mandatory from 01/04/12)

From 25th January 2012 the new online certification service has been run by the Alliance, in conjunction with SSCs and SSOs, and is known as Apprenticeship Certificates England (ACE). Apprentices or training providers/employers, who act on the Apprentice's behalf, are able to request Apprenticeship certificates using the ACE online system. The new ACE online system has replaced the previous paper based system.  A charge of £22 will be collected by the SSCs/SSOs per certificate, which will be used to cover the cost of administering the system.  ACE online can be accessed at: - www.apprenticeships.org.uk/certificates

On 13th April 2011 the Apprenticeships Regulations 2011 (SI 2011/900) came into force as part of the Apprenticeship, Schools, Children and Learning Act 2009 (ASCL Act). This means that Apprentices who have completed their Apprenticeship on or after 13th April 2011 will be covered by these new regulations.

Under the new regulations it stipulates that the apprentice must now apply for their own certificate or, alternatively, instruct their training provider to do so on their behalf. The new regulations also stipulate that all certificates will be issued within 10 working days from the date of the certificate request form being received by the IMI providing that the required information and evidence is correct.

An Apprentice Authorisation form has been created to fall in line with the new regulations.  Training providers/employers will need to ensure the Apprentice has signed this form.  This will then need to be uploaded onto ACE together with all other certificate evidence.
