Recognising investments in skills. Make a difference to the automotive retail industry and earn recognition with SkillMiles
A little support goes a long way
Good employers know that better skills are critical to future success. Today's workforce needs the knowledge and know-how to deliver improved productivity in an ever more competitive market. With the consumer spotlight firmly on our industry, good skills offer reassurance and value to the customer.
Well-trained people don't just add to the bottom line, they're more likely to stay loyal and move up through the business.
Skillmiles highlights your commitment to improving skills and sends a clear message to the industry, government and general public that we're serious about developing the world's best automotive retail workforce. Skillmiles is the way we can recognise your support.
How does the scheme work?
Skillmiles is a point-based scheme with four levels of recognition:
To register your interest in getting involved in the scheme, simply click the "Register for Skillmiles" button on the left and fill in the form. We will then contact you to discuss how you can start collecting Skillmiles points. These are awarded by the IMI to an individual and/or a company for any contribution they make which supports the IMI's objectives to improve skills. As well as non-financial contributions such as providing your time, for example, Skillmiles points are also awarded for financial donations to advance the skills cause.
A 'tiered' system ensures that Skillmiles points are weighted fairly for contributions given by companies large and small, as well as from individuals. You can reach the next level by accumulating the required points.
What recognition do I get?
The scheme provides official recognition of a person's or company's contribution towards the IMI's work in meeting the skills needs of the automotive industry. Companies can enrol staff on the Skillmiles scheme as a means of helping them with continuing professional development, but Skillmiles points are not awarded for gaining qualifications or other forms of accreditation.
The IMI will be promoting Skillmiles actively within the automotive retail industry.
Qualifying business can use the logos above to show their involvement. There is also an opportunity for the top earners of Skillmiles points to be recognised at the IMI's Annual Dinner in London.
