MA Online – Scottish Government web based programme for registration and certification of Modern Apprentices. The programme addresses the needs of SSC’s, providers and the Enterprise Networks and will provide a faster turnaround with less bureaucracy as well as more detailed and accurate information on candidates. Modern Apprenticeship Frameworks at Level 2 - following announcements by government that they will support Modern Apprenticeships at level 2 we are in discussion with employers and training providers to determine of there is a need for, and if so what potential content a framework may consist of.
Skillauto Technician Competition – Scotland and UK champion Paul Abbey is now going through the process for Worldskills selection in January. If successful Paul will represent the UK in Calgary in Septeber 2009. The IMI in Scotland are supporting and assisting Paul and his employer during the process.
Schools Teaching resources – The Headlight initiative includes projects and exercises which can be used by school teachers to teach their subjects in a vocationally related way. These are being produced for introduction to the school curriculum in the new year alongside a national competition based around brand marketing.
Skillauto 2009 – the competition to find the best young automotive technicians in Scotland moves into its second year with plans already underway for the Scottish heat in the Light Vehicle category and the introduction of paint and body competitors.
