Vocational Related Qualifications (Technical Certificates)

These are nationally recognised, vocationally related qualifications (VRQs) which provide the essential knowledge to do a job.

Who are they suitable for?

• Those who choose a vocational route for their development
• Those in full-time or part-time further education
• Those seeking employment, who do not have access to a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
• Those undertaking an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship with a Technical Certificate requirement
• The level 1 is also available as a Pre-Apprenticeship programme for school pupils, aged 14-16 years giving them the opportunity to 'fast track' onto higher level motor industry qualifications

How do you get one?

• Achieved on a full or part time basis in schools and at IMI Awards approved centres
• By training and undertaking practical and on-line assessment
• Typically each level is completed in an academic year
