IMI Awards National Qualifications (VRQs)
Launched in 2004, these are nationally recognised, vocationally related qualifications (VRQs), which offer the widest range of technical knowledge to become a technician, or to progress to higher education.
The IMI National contains the Technical Certificate content, with a wider breadth of knowledge in applied science, mathematics, electronics and Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
Who are they suitable for?
- Those seeking employment, who do not have access to an NVQ
- Those in full-time or part-time further education
- Those undertaking an Apprenticeship with a Technical Certificate requirement
- Those planning to progress to Level 4 qualifications, management qualifications or higher education
- Those who have, or are likely to achieve, GCSE grades A-C in English, mathematics and a science based subject
How do you get one?
- Achieved on a full or part time basis at an IMI Awards approved centre
- By training and undertaking academic, on-line and practical assessment
- Typically each level is completed in an academic year
