Apprenticeships
A qualification that demonstrates competence to do a job to a national standard, with the required technical and KeySkills knowledge. An apprenticeship typically
consists of:
- These are available as an Apprenticeship (Level 2) and an Advanced Apprenticeship
(Level 3)
- They are practically based and assess skills, with the underpinning knowledge to
do the job learned via the Technical Certificate or IMI National Qualification
Who are they suitable for?
- For those who prefer vocational training to academic study
- For those who wish to gain employment by starting an Apprenticeship that covers
the required technical & skill knowledge and demonstrates their competence in the
work place
How do you get one?
- The Technical Certificate or National Qualification and Key Skills are delivered
and achieved at an IMI approved centre
- A student is observed and assessed doing their job in the workplace
- A portfolio of evidence is gathered at work, while carrying out operations and tasks,
with on-line assessment of skills
- An Apprenticeship is typically completed in 2 years and an Advanced Apprenticeship
in 3 years
