IMI launches innovative careers website - Autocity
Showing the retail motor industry as a desirable career option, The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has launched an online information website to help young people, adults and careers practitioners find out about the hundreds of jobs available within the sector.
Autocity brings to life the diverse roles available within the industry by using video case studies of real people in real jobs. Visitors to the site can also find out about qualifications, salary guidelines, job descriptions and lots more.
Research* has indicated that the automotive retail sector will need 120,000 more people over the next decade. One of the key objectives of the IMI as the industry’s Sector Skills Council and professional association is to promote the UK motor industry as a progressive and exciting sector of employment.
Using the concept of a city, the site features a series of retail automotive businesses which the user can explore. It is anticipated that the site will become an information, advice and guidance tool for all careers advisors in schools and careers offices. They will be supported by a special section of the website specifically designed for their exclusive use.
Lesley Woolley, Head of Professional Development at the IMI said:
“The motor industry needs to attract and retain highly capable people who have got what it takes to make a career within the sector. Autocity has been designed to give users an overview of the range and diversity of the job roles within this dynamic and evolving industry.”
The website is officially launched at this year’s British International Motor Show at ExCel in London.
