Ensuring the further development of its awarding body business as well as responding to the demands of new government regulations, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has appointed Ian Cheetham to the newly created post of head of accreditation.
Ian, 47, an economics graduate from Manchester University, joins the IMI from Automotive Skills, where he was standards and qualifications manager.
Reporting to Alan Mackrill, IMI director of learning and skills, Ian will be responsible for the internal and external quality assurance process relating to the IMI’s increasing qualifications provision.
Commented Ian, who has spent 20 years in the retail motor industry:
"What has always impressed me about the IMI is the friendliness and helpfulness of its people. I know from talking to approved centres over the years that what attracts them to the Institute is the high level of customer service and its understanding of the motor industry. I am very much looking forward to helping to develop this."
