IMI honours Edward Clark and Gerry Braddock

In acknowledgement of their outstanding service and contribution to the motor industry’s professional association for over 40 years, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has awarded its highest level of recognition to both Edward Clark and Gerry Braddock.

The Honorary Fellowships were presented by the Institute’s Patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent, as part of the annual Outstanding Achiever Awards ceremony for the IMI’s qualifications business, IMI Awards Ltd.

Elected a member of the IMI in 1965, Edward became a Fellow in 1987 and joined the Institute’s former Council of Management five years later, becoming its Chairman in 2002. He served in this role for two and a half years and then became the Institute’s Honorary Treasurer. In 2007, the IMI formed a new company, IMI Awards Ltd, which is the largest qualifications body serving the automotive sector and Edward was appointed its Chairman, as well as taking up a position on the IMI Group’s Executive Board. Although now officially retired from the industry, Edward continues to play an active role supporting the IMI membership association in the Hull and Yorkshire regions.

Elected a member of the IMI in 1967, Gerry became a Fellow in 1984, the same year he also joined the Institute’s former Council of Management. Having served on the Institute’s original Membership Committee for many years, he became its Chairman in 1988. He is now Chairman of the Professional Standards and Grading Committee and a member of the IMI’s Executive Board.

Paying tribute to their service to the IMI, Sarah Sillars, IMI Chief Executive, said:

“Through their tireless work in the industry, both Edward and Gerry have been great ambassadors for the Institute and its pursuit of improving standards of professionalism and continues to do much to promote the value of membership in their local regions. Honorary Fellowship is reserved only for those individuals who have truly made an outstanding contribution and they have both earned this recognition with distinction.”
