About the Coat of Arms

The IMI coat of arms, or crest is an integral part of the overall identity of the Institute of the Motor Industry. The crest appears prominently on certificates awarded by IMI Awards and is used as the authoritative stamp or signature of the Institute.

A major honour, it was received by the IMI in 1955 when the College of Heralds granted arms to the Institute. The Armorial bearings represent the work of the Institute in Heraldic terms.

The IMI coat of arms and all other IMI brands are registered trade marks and can only be used with permission of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
