Skoda rolls 14-millionth car off its assembly line

Skoda has managed to reach another milestone in the automotive industry, by producing its 14-millionth car.

Assembled at its Czech Republic plant in Kvasiny this week, the vehicle comes in the form of a 'Laurin & Klement' Superb special edition car.

Following the production of the landmark vehicle, Skoda has detailed that the motor has been designated delivery to a German customer.

Commenting on the feat, professor Winfried Vahland, chairman of Skoda, pointed out: "We are expanding at a high speed. Almost two thirds of the 14 million cars built by the company were produced and sold in the past 20 years, four million of which were produced in the past five years alone."

Looking ahead, the Czech Republic vehicle maker has revealed that it is aiming to boost its worldwide sales figure to at least 1.5 million units on an annual basis by 2018.

Last month, the Scottish region of Renfrewshire marked the arrival of Arnold Clark Skoda dealership, which has opened its doors in Paisley's Phoenix Retail Park.
