All businesses want a good return on investment for training their workforce. When evaluating in-house training for your business, you might consider the following questions:
- Did the training deliver what was expected for the business?
- How do we continue to develop our people in ways that will take the business forward?
- Does our training help to motivate, reward and retain our staff?
- Is it quality assured?
Employer Based Training Accreditation (EBTA) is about finding ways to make the impact of in-house training more explicit. EBTA works with businesses to establish whether their internal training can be accredited by a university. It also supports employers who want to further develop their training and build towards formal national qualifications.
What does EBTA involve?
A specialist EBTA consultant will come to your business to do an initial scoping visit, to get an overview of your organisation's needs. They will then make recommendations on the potential for accreditation of your in-house training - identifying how this would fit with your wider strategy for the development of your workforce.
There is no obligation to take this further, but if you do, EBTA will support you in identifying a university partner to undertake the formal accreditation of your training.
The EBTA service is supported by government funding as part of its strategy to support business growth and development - you will be provided with up to four days of independent and impartial consultancy service, free of charge.
How could EBTA benefit my business?
EBTA can have far reaching benefits for companies, including:
- external verification of the quality and standard of in-house training
- matching in-house training to national qualification standards
- enhancing in-house capacity to improve and develop the skills your business needs
- attracting the best candidates by providing high quality professional development opportunities
- recognising and rewarding employee achievement
