Training budget squeezed? Claim hundreds towards your training costs through Women & Work

What’s in it for your business?

According to research conducted by BME Research, 95% of employers who sent staff on training through funding provided by Women & Work stated that their staff developed new skills to enable them to do their jobs better.
 
Spend just £100.00 in direct cash costs per participant to get £400.00 back female employer, as long as the rest of the minimum spend of £1000.00 can be met through in-kind contributions i.e. employee downtime and staff cover.

SkillAuto: Are your employees up for a challenge?

Do you have an outstanding employee with less than three years’ experience in learning or employment in light vehicle, panel or paint? Then please encourage them to enter the SkillAuto competition. Don’t forget that the best from this year’s SkillAuto may also have the chance to compete at the prestigious WorldSkills event to be held in Leipzig, Germany in 2013.
 
There is still time to enter as the online competition closes on 31 December Visit www.autocity.org.uk/skillauto to take the test. 
 
Participation in SkillAuto allows for the fantastic opportunity to generate positive news stories about your business. It also shows that you’re passionate about raising skills levels in the industry.

Headlight Competition Now Open!

Headlight is a national schools competition aimed at improving the image of the retail motor industry through supporting the learning of 14-16 year olds. Students will be introduced to the wide variety of job roles across the sector, initially focusing on non-technical roles.

Following a block of learning, students can enter their work into a national competition. These entries will be judged by industry experts and the winning team will receive a tour of the Jaguar manufacturing plant, a tour of the Land Rover heritage museum and a 4x4 off-roading day. In addition, participating schools will benefit from being linked to employers in their local area.

We are now accepting entries for the 2010/2011 Headlight competition, closing date is the 30th March 2011.

Technicians from Jardine Motors achieve industry accreditation

Eighteen technicians from the Jardine Motor Group have proved they have got what it takes as motor industry professionals after receiving national recognition for their skills.  The technicians have all achieved the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) standard ranging from Service Maintenance Technician to Master Technician level.  Two of the achievers are MINI technicians and are the very first from the manufacturer to become accredited in the UK.

IMI Annual Dinner

We are delighted to announce that the IMI Annual Dinner will be held on Thursday 10th March 2011 at the Landmark Hotel, London.

The evening will commence with a drinks reception at 7.00 pm, followed by dinner at 7.45 pm and will feature the annual Skillmiles Recognition Awards. We will also have an entertaining after dinner speaker.

Although quite a formal occasion, the evening is a wonderful networking opportunity with a gathering of influential personalities from across the automotive industry. Individual tickets are priced at £150 ex VAT, with tables of 10 or 12 also available.
