The Women and Work Project

The Women and Work project is now up and running through phase 4 and funding is still available!

The programme requires a minimum spend from employers of £1000 in order to access a grant of £400 per participant and offers employees an opportunity for additional support in up-skilling in either Management & Leadership or general Career Development.  Many women have benefitted from the scheme over the past three years including Maxine Heaton of Zest Training.  Please click here to see more about Maxine’s experience of The Women and Work Scheme!

SkillAuto - The countdown to registration has begun!

With just 8 days until online registration opens, automotive employers across the nation are preparing for their technicians to take the online test on 1st October.

This is your opportunity for technicians to stand out from the crowd, recognise excellence and increase confidence, skills and all-round competence.

SkillAuto gives the opportunity for your employees to showcase their skills, competing on a national level. The first stage is the online test which can be taken immediately after registration opens on 1st October.

After taking an online test, the IMI select the best to compete in the practical heats around the country. The winners of these regional heats then compete in the UK final!

There are three streams of the competition:

AutoTech – for light vehicle technicians
AutoBody Repair  - for panel technicians
AutoPaint – for paint technicians

This is your opportunity to promote excellence in your workplace, and showcase the talent that your business has to offer. By encouraging and supporting your technicians to enter the competition you are proving their value, and helping to inspire confidence in their abilities. And if they get to the live heats – added publicity will promote the increased confidence and new skills that your technician has acquired.

We encourage you to enter all those that might be eligible.  So, put the 1st October in your diary to log onto www.motor.org.uk

Garages incentivised to make sector better

Motor Codes has launched a national campaign to help garages improve by gathering feedback from customers.  As part of the campaign, garages will be in with a chance of winning £250 of Snap-On Tools vouchers every month.

“Garages need to provide customers with confidence and reassurance to shake off misconceptions about poor standards.  By gathering feedback, good and most importantly – bad, garages across the country can make improvements that will turn around the reputation of our industry,” said Chris Mason, Motor Codes director.  “Every garage that subscribes to Motor Codes has free access to a government-backed survey and can use the results to become even better.”

Each month a Motor Codes garage customer will win back the cost of their service or repair up to £500 by simply completing the online survey.  Results of the surveys are transformed into a live Garage Rating that is displayed on garage profile pages at www.motorcodes.co.uk.  Each subscribing garage can access the results of their surveys, enabling them to identify areas of strength and weakness.

Motor Codes has the backing of Consumer Focus, Government, Trading Standards, Consumer Direct and industry.  The survey was put together in line with requirements set out by the Office of Fair Trading, with the aim of helping to drive up standards across the sector.  To find out more about the new customer survey incentive and to subscribe to Motor Codes, visit www.motorcodes.co.uk
