National Occupational
Standards - Industry Consultation
Help make this a better skilled motor industry
Keeping the motor industry up-to-date with changing technology and best
practice means constantly reviewing and improving standards of training
and qualifications.
Automotive Skills has over the past few months been in the process of
reviewing and revising all of the national occupational standards within it's footprint. The need for a complete review
and overhaul of the automotive suite of standards was driven by the
Sector Qualification Strategy (SQS) feedback, where employers had
requested new standards to fill gaps in current provision and ensure up
to date and fit-for-purpose qualifications.
Employer led expert working groups were established to develop the
initial draft national occupational standards, which have been
written/revised to reflect the specific competencies of various job roles
within the automotive sector. The aim is that they may be used for a
variety of purposes, including workbased training programmes, job
descriptions or staff appraisals, as well as forming the basis of new
qualifications.
National occupational standards
(NOS) for the Automotive Retail sector are now ready for consultation.
Have your say - visit www.motor.org.uk/nos
to download and review proposed qualification structures and supporting
suites of draft occupational standards.
Your participation in the consultation process would be greatly
appreciated, please feel free to comment on one or more of the NOS suites
under review in accordance with your area(s) of experience and expertise.
The closing date for comments for this first wave of consultations
is:
30th September 2008
Your feedback is essential so we can keep qualifications relevant and
standards high and attract skilled entrants to the motor industry.
Following the consultation, an expert working group will review the
feedback received and finalise the standards.
