What is an Automotive Careers Champion?

Automotive Careers Champions are individuals who have experience within the industry and who are passionate about what they do and who want to give a something back to the industry by sharing their experiences and giving individuals who are considering a career in the industry or career development aspiration to make the next step.  

Champions backgrounds may cut across many disciplines within the retail automotive sector. There is no set career route champions have to have been through, champions may come from a bodyshop background or come into the industry as an apprentice or as administration support and worked their way up through the ranks. They may be a graduate and entered the industry via this route, the key for becoming a champion is having the ability to inspire and motivate people in their career decisions and get positive key messages across to their audiences.

What does an Automotive Careers Champion do?

Champions will be expected to attend a series of events each year.  These events may vary from career conventions held at schools and colleges to seminars, site visits and other engaging activities. Champions will be expected to deliver presentations to schools, colleges and career practitioners and will also be expected to answer questions about the industry.

The role of an Champion is to:
• Promote the importance of the retail automotive sector
• Encourage individuals to enter careers in the industry
• Help create an industry with good public perception that promotes excellence in skills
